A slow day—N.S.C. no new news about Lebanon air raid. Late in morning Premier Kennedy Alphonse Simmonds of St. Kitty-Nevis—the newest independent Caribbean nation (British Commonwealth) came by for visit on way home from Commonwealth meeting in India. He is strongly for what we did in Grenada & hopes we wont leave too soon. Budget meeting settled on figure for E.P.A.—Cong. will probably try to increase it. Interview with 2 ladies from People Mag. Very pleasant. I hope it turns out OK in print. Gov. Deukmejian (Duke) from Calif. brought in several top leaders of the Am. Armenian community. They are all great supporters of our admin. Evening—dinner at Space museum—Air Force Assn. honoring Gen. Jimmy Doolittle—87 yrs. old. During day I phoned the family of the Navy flyer who was killed in Lebanon. Talked to Father, Mother & 16 yr. old brother. They were wonderful—full of pride & supportive of what we are doing. She told me their church prayed for me every Sunday.
