Signed as 1st on the Calif. petitions to put reapportionment on the ballot. The D’s there really Gerrymandered the state—worse than anything that’s ever been attempted in Calif. Met with Ralph Abernathy. He has a foundation to tie job training into pvt. companies. Upstairs after lunch to work on T.V. speech for Thurs. nite. We really have a battle—going to try & get additional cuts in the budget. Then some receptions—3 in a row. Eagles at the W.H.—Art fund affair at Phillips Gallery & back to the Hilton (1st time since) for the Multiple Sclerosis dinner.
