An N.S.C. meeting—briefing on coming Sept. visit of Pres. Sarney of Brazil. After lunch I went over to the E.O.B. to speak to the St. Chairman of the Conf. on Small Business which is the 1st held in 6 yrs. A meeting with Congressman Bob Walker on the subject of N.A.S.A. was cancelled. Both houses of Cong. are grinding away trying to clear away some of the legislative debris so they can go home til after Labor Day.
Then I pre taped my radio broadcast—subject—The Houses irresponsible nibling away at Defense. They’re doing everything but give the soldiers close order drill by legislative action.
After photos with departing W.H. fellows and up to pack for Calif. Usually I can go to ranch without even a tooth brush—everything I need is there. It’s those 3 days in L.A. that I have to pack for.
