The anniversary of another March 30th. Held a Cab. Council meeting on mandatory retirement age. We’ll take a position that there will be no such thing. Bus. & Labor wont like it but the sr. citizens will. Visited by Chief Rabbi of Israel, Shlomo Goren Ashkenzi. He brought a Bible in Jewish and English—it reads from back to front. He’s pretty firm there can be no Palestinian State. News Conf. briefing family theatre. Bunch of Congressmen came in for photos. One from Tampico area brought mementos from my birthplace & a picture that is eerie. The day before Election Day—Nov. 3, 1980 a photo was taken of a rainbow—the end came down exactly on the building where I was born. Sens. Bob Dole & Long came up to the house to talk the deficit. I love Sen. Long & he’s a Dem. who has been with us all the way but now he thinks only answer to deficit is a big tax raise. I just cant go along.
