Up early for last minute packing then down for some photos in the lower hall & Dip. Room. A statement to the press regarding the Pan Am tragedy. Then out to Marine 1 through the rain. Out to Andrews A.F.B. & off to Calif. in Air Force 1. Got some home work done on the flight & then 12:20 P.M. arrived at L.A. airport. A motorcade to our new home. Nancy worried all the way that I wouldn’t like it. It’s beautiful. Ted Graber & his helper were here when we arrived. We’d had lunch on the plane so it was right to work. They hung pictures, we unpacked and started putting things away through the entire afternoon. Then a quick shower, dinner and back to unpacking & opening Xmas gifts from friends. Now it’s bed time—first time in our new home.
