President Reagan enjoys a horseback ride a little earlier in the day than usual.

A beautiful day all day—no early morning fog. Rode a little early because Julius was coming for lunch & Nancys hairdo. After lunch a few hours up in the woods pruning more trees along a riding trail. Then in to clean up for press BBQ. At 5:10 we left for the helicopter pad. Into Santa Barbara to Barney Klinger’s lovely home (32 acres) where we greeted & shook hands with about 350 local & nat. press & family. About an hour & we were back in the air on our way to the ranch. A late dinner & days end.
