Phoned Doug Morrow in Cleveland Clinic—had a triple bypass. He’s a mountain climber & swims 30 laps every day. A lengthy cable from Habib outlining a complete plan for withdrawal of the P.L.O. from Beirut. I have my fingers crossed. Sharon cabled wants to come here Thurs. to see me. George S. cabled back that I would not undercut Habib by doing that & that he should talk to Habib not me. Met with another Congressional group on the tax bill. I think we made headway. They were pleased that Lyn N. is back on temporary duty to honcho a P.R. campaign in behalf of the bill. Met with another group on the tuition tax credit that one wont be easy either. John Warner came by for a talk about the MX—I think we now have him. A farewell party for Ed & Monique Grey—he’s returning to his Savings & Loan job in S.D. I dropped by. It was a busy day including a working lunch. N.S.C. to plot strategy for our “START” negotiators. A terrorist attack in Paris in the Jewish quarter—6 dead. Nancy in tears when I came home—her father is back in the hospital. She’s going out there Wed. I wish I could bear her pain myself.
