President Reagan participates in a Cabinet Meeting to discuss drug abuse policy.
A cabinet meeting on the campaign we are launching on the drug situation. We are all agreed—on matters such as offering healing & treatment for users but stiff penalties for pushers.
Then I went over to the East room & talked to 300 of my appointees on our need to make these last 2 yrs. plus count.—Lunch on the patio. Then a meeting with our House & Sen. leadership on the drug campaign. It was a good meeting with general agreement. Then I went before the press & made the drug announcement. NBC & C Span carried it live and I took about a dozen Questions.
A meeting with Doug Morrow, he’s here for a Space Council meeting. He says morale at N.A.S.A. is shot & urges announcement that we go forward with the 4th Shuttle. Then I saw 3 Ambassadors & their familys off & went home.
