Every time I got within half a block of the press corps they were yelling “what about the (and they call it) Stolen Carter document?” I haven’t replied and wont until next weeks press conference. This was the day for Chi.—arrived at O’Hare still fairly early in the day—helicoptered to the H.Q. Polish American Assn. Spoke to a rather small group of invited leaders—well received. They are most supportive of what we’ve done for the Polish people. Then on to Meigs field & the Marriott hotel for address to the A.M.A. convention. That too was well received. I lunched with A.M.A. board members & then to A.F.1 & back to Wash. We were to have gone to Fla. for the return of the shuttle tomorrow morning but weather makes it uncertain they’ll land there & if they do when it will be so we’ve cancelled. Maureen is going, Liz Dole & Margaret Heckler.
