A beautiful, hot day—the usual schedule—the radio broadcast, lunch & a horseback ride followed by a swim. The 17 yr. Cicadas serenaded us for lunch. I phoned Paul Laxalt about the strained relations between Frank F. & Mermie. Also phoned Helen—Scoop Jacksons widow re the memorial service being held for him.
