A busy day—large meeting in the Roosevelt room—Cabinet et al regarding position papers in preparation for Ottawa summit. Then a Cabinet lunch getting ready for Chancellor Schmidt. In between times met and said goodbye to 4 new ambassadors. Two are husband & wife. He goes to Nepal & she goes to Bangladesh. I told them to do a lot of commuting between those 2 places. Late P.M. (5:30) a reception in the East Room for the Nat. Advertising Council. Then Ron’s birthday party & a movie.
