Off to Houston. First stop the Cenikor Foundation. A unique drug & alcohol rehab. center funded privately & by it’s own production in about 15 lines including athletic equipment such as football pads. I was enthusiastically received and deeply moved by the experience. That evening there were 2 receptions—fundraisers for Senator John Tower & then a dinner—3500 people in the convention center. All of these were productive & worthwhile. On the way in from the airport 2 of our police motorcycle escorts collided. I got out of the car to go forward where one of them was being helped by paramedics. His name was Ralph Gonzales. On the way I picked up his revolver & ticket book—T.V. used that. Fortunately & miraculously neither man was seriously injured.
