Bill Verity brought 100 C.E.O.’s for part of the pvt. initiative program. I spoke to them in the East room. Later a Cab. Council meeting on legal matters—took up drug problem. Prosecutors of Hinckley called to me. They want me to testify in the trial. No President has ever done that before. Staff lean very much against—I’m not as sure as I was that it would be wrong. Tonight Betsy B. arrives to be a guest for State dinner tomorrow night.
