8:25 A.M. a little speech about the N.A.T.O. summit on the S. Lawn. Quite a sendoff crowd, mainly young people & students. Then it was Marine 1 to Andrews and A.F.1 to Brussels. There’s a 6 hr. time difference & a 7 hr. flight. I set my clock to Brussels time—had brkfast then had dinner at 7 P.M. Brussels time which was only lunch time in Wash. We arrived in Brussels at 9:45 P.M. The usual greeting by Belgium officials & our Ambas. George S. & Obie were already there. We had a brief meeting at the airport then I was driven to Chateau Stuyvenberg & right to bed. Had a good nights sleep.
