At about 11:30 A.M. made several telephone calls all over the world to mil. personnelle standing duty at foreign posts. There were 5 calls—one each to an enlisted man of each branch of the service. To a couple it was 2 A.M. Xmas day to the others—late Xmas eve night. Of course they were picked because each was standing duty at those hours. I told each one I’d call their familys here & tell them of the calls & I’ve done that.

Dr. Dick Davis (Nancys brother) and family arrived and are staying over Xmas with us.

Sen. Hatch is after me to grant clemency to the Rev. Moon. I’ve explored this & find I just cant. I have however taken action to see if I can grant him a furlough over New Years. It seems that day is the holiest in that religion.

Tonite dinner at the Wicks—getting to be an annual event & a happy one. Nancy played Santa—it took about 3 long distance calls from Ron to get her to do it. She was great.
