Had an 8:30 A.M. Brkfast in Cab. room with entire Dem. & Repub. Cong. leadership. When I walked into the room I got an ovation. The spirit of bipartisanship flavored the entire meeting.

Followed with N.S.C. meeting in Oval O.—Colin led off & most of discussion was post mortem on summit.

At 11:30 A.M. a briefing for Regional press briefing. Then at 12 noon I went over to E.O.B. to spend a half hour with about 100 press & media rep’s. from around the country. I did about 5 min. talk then opened it to Q’s. I enjoyed it. They ask good Q’s aimed at getting news—not trying to trap me.

Up to the W.H. for lunch with Nancy & off to Camp D. Called P.M. Takeshita of Japan to report on summit before leaving. At Camp D. phoned reports to Margaret Thatcher & to Pres. Mitterrand of France.
