Staff meetings taken up with Iran & the Honduran matter which has been carried out. At noon the usual issues briefing lunch. Our cabinet has asked for restoration of virtually every cut in proposed budget—not in their entirety but enough to drastically raise the deficit. I think I’ll hold out for “no give in.”
Over to E.O.B. and hand out 44 Distinguished Exec. Awards. A lot of paper work—trip to the dentist (cleaning) and upstairs, Dennis and Mermie are here for the rest of week.
Tomorrow Pres. Mobutu of Zaire will be our guest.
