Off to Grand Forks N.D. with Sen. Mark Andrews to do a campaign rally. It was a great time—on the campus of N.D.U. [North Dakota University] so lot’s of young people in the jam packed Uni. basketball arena. Then the usual receiving line photos with major donors. One thing different—a meeting with about a dozen or so state heads of farm org.—Farm Bureau, Cattlemen’s Assn., Wheat growers, Sun flower growers etc. etc. I listened to them and Don R. took notes on their suggestions & particular problems. All in all it was a good day. Back to Andrews at 4:45—met Nancy & we Marine 1’d to Camp D. Weather pleasant but cool. I had yielded to Jim Kuhn & Mark Weinberg so our movie was “Kings Row.” I’d forgotten how really good that pic. was.
