President Reagan asks Congress to investigate the legality of the use of American manufactured planes in the Israeli bombing of the Iraqi nuclear site.
President Reagan meets with former Secretary of State Henry Kissinger.
More meetings about the Israeli bombing. Under the law I have no choice but to ask Cong. to investigate & see if there has been a violation of the law regarding use of Am. produced planes for offensive purposes. Frankly, if Cong. should decide that I’ll grant a Presidential waiver. Iraq is technically still at war with Israel & I believe they were preparing to build an atom bomb. Henry K. came to see me at 5:30 to report on his European & Middle East trip. He has an amazing knowledge of all the “players” and his report was most enlightening & helpful.
