Get away day. A ceremony on the S. Lawn—several thousand people & the Marine band on hand—all in the rain. I spoke about 8 min’s. Then the Blue Angels did a fly over & we boarded Marine 1. On to Andrews & A.F.1—an 8 hr. flight & 7 hr. time change. Pres. & Mrs. Koivisto, our Ambas. & his wife & a few others met us in Helsinki. Obie Shultz was with us. George stayed behind because it looked like a Noriega deal was upcoming. Then we received word on the plane the deal had collapsed & Geo. will be joining us in Helsinki.
We landed at 1:00 A.M. & moved on to the guest house. Lights out at 4 A.M.
