Good meeting with Schmidt. Found ourselves in agreement on future course with regard to Russia. Saw him off—quick clothes change & away for Calif. Beautiful afternoon when we arrived. I wasn’t quite prepared for the size of the heli-pad and the construction up by the Omni station—however it’s all temporary & will be removed when I leave office. I had feared I might have grown away from the place & all it means to us. I shouldn’t have worried.
