President Reagan returns to the White House from the day trip to New York.

Off to N.Y. where Nancy takes off on her own schedule & I go to Ellis Island to address the Nat. Newspaper Publishers Assn. about 3,500 people. It was raining & cold & the set up was outdoors. Billy Graham did the invocation. The band played the Nat. Anthem & I was introduced. I started speaking & the rain stopped. About 5 min’s. after I stopped so did the rain.
