Mr. & Mrs. Bill Bright & others came by to present me with the New St. James Bible for which I had done a front piece declaring this the year of the Bible. Trent Lott & Mike Oxley (Cong.) had invited from their states about 250 leaders. I spoke to them in the East Room. From there I went to another prep. meeting for our Summit. Had 1st meeting with our International Pvt. Enterprise Task Force. These volunteers are going to promote industrial development in the Lesser Developed Countries. Had an interview with Family Weekly. Connie Mack from the House & Bill Roth-Sen. came by with letters to me signed by 34 Sen’s. & 148 Rep’s. pledging to uphold any vetos I might sign if Cong. tampers with the 3rd yr. tax cut or indexing. Finished the work day with 5 tapings—Repub. Heretage Conv., Physical Fitness Conv., C.R.A. Dinner, Pik. Program & the Ad. Council Dinner.
