Great Britain imposes economic sanctions against Poland and Russia in a protest against martial law in Poland.
The United Nations General Assembly adopts a resolution condemning Israel for its annexation of the Golan Heights in December 1981.
Met with Congressmen who have been in state & local govt. to explain Federalism. I think it was a good idea & may have some effect. Greeted & received credentials from 4 more Ambassadors. The Sr. staff plus Stu Spencer, Dick Wirthlin, et al, are up at Camp David strategizing on the political situation. I’m not sure I’m happy about that. I dont want them to be eternal optimists but sometimes they decide to fix things that aren’t broke. Came upstairs early afternoon but was at my desk all day & tonite cleaned up 5 speeches for Mon & Tues. delivery in Minn., Iowa, Ind., & Wash. D.C. Now to bed.
