Overview

Public officials hear the concerns of Simi Valley students at this annual event co-presented by the Simi Valley Youth Council.

In keeping with the Education Team’s vision of promoting civic engagement, we are pleased to once again partner with the Simi Valley Youth Council to present the annual Youth Town Hall as well as the Youth Summit. Area high school students have the opportunity to hear public officials discuss local and statewide civic matters ranging from education to policy-making. To maximize participation, attendees can pose their questions or share their concerns anonymously via social media. This year’s speakers will be announced soon. Youth Council representatives will then facilitate breakout sessions in the afternoon where students can work together to brainstorm ways that they can help address concerns in their own communities.

The Youth Town Hall is open to local middle and high school students as well as one adult chaperone per each group of 15 students. Registration includes complimentary admission to the museum. The registration table will open at 9 a.m. on the day of the event. Following the Town Hall, lunch will be provided for students and teachers who registered for the afternoon breakout sessions.
