Overview

Join us for this important event that recognizes American heroes from armed conflict.

The Medal of Honor is the highest military honor awarded in the United States of America. Only 3,500 military personnel have received this award since it was established during the Civil War, and there are fewer than 100 recipients living today. During this event, several Medal of Honor recipients will share their stories of courage and sacrifice, exploring such themes as patriotism, citizenship, and integrity. Following the talk, they will sign copies of Medal of Honor: Portraits of Valor Beyond the Call of Duty. Stay tuned for the list of this year’s panelists.

This year’s conversation will be with Staff Sergeant David Bellavia, who was awarded the Medal of Honor in 2019 for his brave actions in Iraq during Operation Phantom Fury.

This forum is free for school groups to attend, and one adult chaperone is invited per group of 15 students. School registration includes complimentary admission to the museum only. There are a limited number of tickets available for the public, but those do not come with museum admission. The registration table will open at 9:00 a.m. for school groups on the day of the event. General public check-in will begin at 9:30 a.m. Following the event, students can have lunch (provided they are brought in brown bags by the school) under Air Force One and tour the museum.
