Overview
We invite you to attend the next session of the Reagan Institute Virtual Roundtable Series on Thursday, March 13, 2025 from 12:30-2:00PM ET.
For this session, we welcome Dr. Randall Fowler, an Assistant Professor at Abilene Christian University. Dr. Fowler will be discussing his latest book, Securing the Prize: Presidential Metaphor and US Intervention in the Persian Gulf. Fowler argues that, for half a century, metaphor has been central to defining America's role in the Middle East. Metaphors served as shorthand for presidents to promote their policies, filtering through the judgments of officials, journalists, experts, and critics to mediate American perceptions of the Gulf War.
At these quarterly sessions, we feature scholars studying aspects of President Reagan’s legacy. The Roundtable seeks to promote scholarship related to #40, build a network of researchers focused on Reagan's life and times, and support the work of young scholars studying Reagan through the Institute's Postdoctoral Fellowship.
