Algorithms for Our Arsenal: Artificial Intelligence and the National Defense Strategy

On September 20th at 4:30PM ET, the Ronald Reagan Institute's program on the National Security Innovation Base will be hosting an in-person event, which will also be live streamed to a virtual audience, called "Algorithms for Our Arsenal: Artificial Intelligence and the National Defense Strategy." This event will feature a panel discussion with Dr. Mara Karlin, Assistant Secretary of Defense for Strategy, Plans, and Capabilities also Performing the Duties of the Deputy Under Secretary of Defense for Policy, Mr. David Spirk, Senior Counselor at Palantir Technologies and former Chief Data Officer at the Department of Defense, and Rep. Mike Waltz, U.S. Representative, FL-06. The panel will be moderated by columnist Mr. Josh Rogin from The Washington Post.

The discussion will explore the defining national security challenge of the 21st century: maintaining our global technological edge, particularly in the face of growing competition from an increasingly assertive China. Nowhere is this more urgent than in the field of data-driven technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI). To effectively compete, the U.S. National Defense Strategy must prioritize the integration of these technologies into operational concepts, real-world exercises, operations, and defense systems. Panelists will discuss how this approach will not only enhance military and strategic capabilities but also provide valuable insights for policy development and technological advancement.
