The U.S.-Israel relationship is one of the world’s most important. Yet misconceptions and lies about it abound. Dr. Samet sets the record straight in his debut book. Through an intensive study of seven administrations, he shows that strategic interests—not domestic politics or other considerations—have driven American defense policy toward Israel. Dr. Samet examines consequential and controversial episodes that have shaped the security partnership between these two countries. Drawing on archival research and interviews, the book will appeal to policymakers, scholars, and others interested in U.S.-Israel ties or American foreign relations. It is especially timely as American policy toward Israel figures prominently in the news.
