Statement by Fred Ryan, Chairman of the Board of The Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation and Institute on the Death of Reverend Donn Moomaw
Simi Valley, California—The Reagan Foundation joins the Moomaw family and our fellow Americans in mourning the passing of Reverend Donn Moomaw, who passed away yesterday at the age of 93.
A longtime friend and personal minister to President and Mrs. Reagan, Reverend Moomaw was the beloved pastor of Bel Air Presbyterian Church and a source of inspiration and guidance. He served as their minister for the last 30 years of their lives, offering counsel and faith-filled leadership throughout their time in California and beyond.
His deep friendship with the Reagans was reflected in the many significant moments he shared with them, including delivering the invocation at Governor Reagan’s inaugurations in 1967 and 1971, both of his presidential inaugurations in 1981 and 1985, the groundbreaking of the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library in 1988, and its opening in 1991. His presence at these milestone occasions symbolized not only his close bond with the Reagans but also the profound role that faith played in their lives.
We extend our deepest condolences to Reverend Moomaw’s family, friends, and all who were touched by his life and ministry.
